Orla Kiely is an Irish designer whose work is built around one idea more than any other: the Stem, a simple repeating leaf-on-stalk motif first drawn in the 1960s and rendered ever since in warm, retro palettes of olive, mustard, orange and teal. It is one of the most recognisable patterns in British homeware, and because the design is licensed you can order it made to measure as a blind today, in versions that run from a tiny all-over to a single oversized leaf.
Orla Kiely blinds are sold by 5 UK retailers we track, from £19.24, as roller and roman blinds. The same named designs turn up across these shops at near-identical prices - a strong sign it is the same licensed cloth - so the choice comes down to price, construction and fitting rather than the fabric itself.
The thing worth knowing before you buy
The Orla Kiely patterns are licensed designs, not a retailer's own range. The same print - the same artwork, at the same scale - is supplied to several shops, who each sell it under their own range name and pricing. So when you see "Multi Stem roller blind" at four different retailers, it is almost certainly the same cloth, and the sensible thing is to compare on price, construction and fitting rather than which shop has the genuine fabric. They all do.
One thing the lists below make plain: three of the retailers we track price these designs within pennies of each other, while a fourth lists the same prints noticeably higher. On identical licensed cloth, that is exactly the gap worth knowing about before you order.
Multi Stem
If you only know one Orla Kiely print, it is this one: the Stem in full colour, rows of the leaf picked out in a mix of retro shades. It is cheerful, graphic and unmistakably mid-century, and it carries a room on its own - which is why it works best where the rest of the scheme stays calm and lets the print be the feature.

- Blinds By Post from £19.24
- Terrys Fabrics from £20.79
- Make My Blinds from £21.41
- Order Blinds from £66.88
Linear Stem
Linear Stem is the same leaf brought to order: arranged in neat vertical rows rather than scattered, and usually in fewer colours. The effect is tidier and more architectural, the version to choose when you want the Orla Kiely motif without the full multicoloured statement. It sits more easily in a grown-up room or a kitchen than the busiest of the prints.

- Blinds By Post from £19.24
- Swift Direct Blinds from £19.34
- Terrys Fabrics from £20.79
- Order Blinds from £56.84
Jumbo Linear Stem
The jumbo treatment takes Linear Stem and blows it up, so a single leaf becomes a bold piece of graphic design rather than a small repeat. It is the choice for a wider window where a standard-scale print would get lost, and it reads from right across the room. On a narrow window the scale can crop awkwardly, so it rewards a bit of measuring before you commit.

How to choose between them
Because the fabric is shared, your decision is really about scale and colour. Pick by how much you want the pattern to do: a tiny or two-colour Stem for a quiet, textured effect, a multicoloured or jumbo one where you want the window to be the statement. Then choose the construction - a roller shows the Stem tensioned and clean, a roman shows it flat and whole - and add a blackout lining if it is going in a bedroom, since that matters more than the print itself. Only then compare prices, and that is what the lists above are for.
